The International Palm Oil Free Certification Trademark’s Certification process has evolved over many years of research and data collection. 

We learnt many years ago that you can’t ‘back engineer’ a product. This means you can’t simply submit a product for testing to a lab and find out if it contains palm oil or palm oil derivatives.  Testing is not specific enough to detect the thousands of palm oil derivatives made from palm oil. The lab could detect for example ‘glycerine’ in a product however it can’t specifically say the source of that glycerine.

For these reasons POFCAP has developed its own research methods and consumers can be sure the ingredients POFCAP has assessed have been assessed thoroughly.
